Newsletter - April 2010 #44
Dear Friends
Welcome to the latest edition of our newsletter. It contains reports of weekend missions that were held in Seymour Street and Jennymount in the autumn, and the dates of the missions in Lurgan High Street, Gorey and Doagh, that are in preparation for later this year.
When you read through the reports you will come across phrases such as:
“The Lord had brought us together for a purpose.” and,
“All we need to do is make sure that we are available for and willing to do the Lord’s work – He will empower us and do the rest.” and
“As we study Scripture, the Lord always used those who were just ordinary folk.”
This reminds me of a quote I came across recently by the American writer Charles Stanley, “God is not nearly as interested in our ability as he is in our availability”.
Over and over again God brings together the right group of people to share a weekend mission in a particular church, all because they make themselves available. Isn’t that what Isaiah did when he heard God’s call during his vision, and responded, “Here am I, send me!” God is always calling, but do we hear Him? Do we always make ourselves available?
Sometimes that call is to give something up so that we can be free to do something else. Norma Mackey has heard such a call and reluctantly has stepped aside from our Steering Group to take up her duties in the boarding department of Wesley College. We will miss her greatly; not only for her fun and laughter, and fellowship we shared together, but also for her wisdom and her sensitivity to the Spirit’s leading. We are the better for knowing her and we wish her well as she continues to serve her Lord and in Wesley College.
As a movement we are meeting again in Edgehill on Saturday, 8th May, to share in fellowship together and we would give you a very warm invitation to join us. Whether you are in the movement, a member of a church that has experienced a recent weekend, or you are interested in joining a team or simply would like to know more about us, you will be most welcome. We would encourage you to make yourself available
